Lakefront paradise for you and your dog! This describes "Lure of the Lake", a beautiful newly renovated home on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. This lavishly decorated 4BR, 3BA home sits on just under an acre of land in a quiet portion of Sproat Lake, which features warm, crystal clear water and beautiful, largely uninhabited, forested shoreline.

Come enjoy your own southern exposure 100 foot sandy beach. The new private dock was specially fitted with a "doggie ladder" that your dog can use to get out of the deep water onto the dock by him/herself. Boating, fishing, water-skiing, sailing, wakeboarding and swimming are all popular summertime activities for the humans in the bunch. Both motor boats and kayak rentals are available as well. The lake does not freeze - so if your dog is like ours, swimming can be enjoyed year round!

Spring and fall are gorgeous at the lake, while winter provides temperate climate  (40-50 degrees) at lake level - yet ready access to snow at Mt Arrowsmith just outside of town. Slightly over an hour away is Mt Washington- British Columbia's second busiest ski resort (after Whistler/Blackcomb). Downhill skiing, extensive Nordic trails, and snowshoeing can all be enjoyed. Dogs are allowed to join you on the Nordic and snowshoe trails- but leashes are required.

This 2800 square foot waterfront home has been fully renovated and is decorated with leather and microsuede sofas, plush beds with pillowtop mattresses, and large family room with complete entertainment center. (Large screen TV/DVD/VCR/MP3 player and surround sound.) Enjoy a cozy evening in front of one of the two fireplaces, or relax on one of the 2 decks and enjoy the views or have a BBQ. Pet bed, food and water bowls, towels, crate, and emergency supplies such as collar and leash are provided. The house also features a large sunroom overlooking the lake, fully equipped eat in kitchen, living room, and separate dining room. The southern exposure and large windows allow plenty of sunlight inside, as well as beautiful views outside.

The home is situated just outside Port Alberni, on Vancouver Island, BC. The town lies midway (about an hour drive) between the coastal resort towns of Tofino/Ucluelet and the Nanaimo ferry terminals/airport. Many nearby parks, waterfalls and rivers provide beautiful outdoor spots to enjoy with your dog. In the winter, Mt Arrowsmith provides a winter playground for snow lovers! Guided full and half day ATV rentals offer a unique means of exploring the back roads in the area and are available year round.

Nearby Parksville and Qualicum Beach are lovely places to enjoy the salt water beaches and attend the yearly Canadian Open Sand Sculpture Competition. Beach combing, sport fishing, the Pacific Rim National Park, and whale watching can all be enjoyed in the nearby towns of Tofino and Ucluelet. Whatever your interests, the area is sure to have something to satisfy everyone.
