Vancouver’s Rosedale on Robson Hotel has been a favourite
destination for many travellers, given its great location in the
heart of downtown, and its array of services and amenities that
cater to the whole family. But what holds special significance for
travellers with pets is that according to the Rosedale on Robson,
pets are part of the family too! Yes, Historic Yaletown's only all-suite hotel welcomes its pet guests with open arms
and much, much more. In fact, it’s not uncommon for guests at the
hotel to catch a glimpse of Jack, GM John Logan’s Miniature
Schnauzer, wandering through the hotel lobby when he is not busy
guarding his master’s office – a true testament to the Rosedale’s
very pet-welcoming atmosphere.
The first establishment to join the Pets Can Stay program, in the
Fall of 2003, the Rosedale continues to service its pet-toting
clientele with the same philosophy that underlies its entire
operation – to provide superior accommodation with an
emphasis on comfort and value. “We’ve been taking pets for over 9
years now” comments Jim Miller, the Rosedale’s Assistant General
Manager & Director of
Operations. “In all that time, we’ve had no major issues. It’s been
a very good experience for us.”
Offering one and two bedroom suites at the price of a conventional
hotel room, the Rosedale provides spacious units that can
comfortable accommodate guests with even the largest size dogs. Each
suite is designed with self-sufficiency in mind, with individual air
conditioning and kitchenettes that provide the added benefit of cold
storage of pet food or medication. Unlike a number of other
Vancouver hotels, the Rosedale makes all of its smoking and
non-smoking unit types, including the Presidential Suite, available
to pet-toting travellers, while accommodating guests with allergies
by setting aside two hypo-allergenic floors.
With its emphasis on delivering top-notch service, it comes as no
surprise that the Rosedale on Robson is one of only four properties
to carry Pets Can Stay’s highest certification designation – Premium
Insured. Guests checking in with their pets receive a welcome
package including complimentary treats, and the hotel also provides
leashes, portable carriers, pet waste disposal bags, bedding, towel
wipes and emergency pet food upon request. The Rosedale also
provides a valet pet sitting service via local, professional pet
sitters, for an additional fee. As an Insured property via the Rest
Assured™ program (courtesy of Pets Can Stay and Petplan®), the
Rosedale on Robson even takes the extra step of providing pet health
insurance coverage for its four-legged guests against accidents,
whether on or off the property, for the entire duration of their
stay.
Equally impressive as the hotel’s services and amenities, is its
centralized location. Rosedale guests can easily access all of
Vancouver’s major attractions, including Science World, GM Place,
Stanley Park, BC Place, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, the Vancouver Aquarium, and much more. Despite the
city atmosphere, the hotel is situated in a very safe neighbourhood
and is surrounded by numerous walking areas that are perfect for a
stroll with your four-legged companion. An assortment of nearby
off-leash parks also provides excellent venues for dogs to get their
daily dose of exercise.
“I think there are many reasons why travellers with pets visit our
hotel.” adds Miller. “We’re a downtown hotel with a very central,
user-friendly location, and we offer very spacious, comfortable
accommodation with lots of amenities, but also a very casual and
relaxing atmosphere. Most of all, we are a family-oriented hotel (we
even offer large family suites that include bunk beds, etc.) that
understands how pets are a big part of the family too. Our staff
works hard to make sure every member of your family enjoys a great
stay.”
Upcoming events in Vancouver include the
Sea Vancouver Festival, July 6-10,
that includes Tall Ships, concerts, a boat show, and many more
activities for the whole family. Visitors to the city can also check
out the
Pacific National Exhibition from
August 20 to September 5, as well as
BC Lions football, plays at the
Queen Elizabeth Theatre,
concerts at GM Place, and an
assortment of additional activities that Vancouver has to offer.
