Sieger and his staff have gone the extra mile to welcome pets.
Executive Royal Inn’s Premium Certified services include: at
check-in, the pet guest is greeted with their own gift bag, complete
with toy and treat. Their ‘parents’ are presented with practical
information, everything from where to find a pet bakery to groomer
to the nearest veterinary clinic.
Calgary is one of the pet-friendliest cities in Canada, and offers
several hundred off-leash spaces in and around the city. Information
on off-leash parks near the hotel is available from the front desk
staff, who also arrange valet grooming service, and will call to
arrange pick up and delivery of a guest's pet to and from the
groomer’s salon.
“We’ve seen a tremendous growth in this segment of the travel
business”, says Sieger. He has also received numerous testimonials
from guests who have enjoyed their experiences at the hotel with
their pets. A recent guest, who stayed with her husband and their
well-travelled cat, wrote in her letter to Sieger that their cat
thought ‘he had died and gone to heaven’. When they got to their
room to unpack, he promptly forgot about his parents, and played
with his new toy for hours. The guest included photographs of her
cat playing with his new toy in the hotel suite. These letters and
pictures are posted in the office, and members of the staff are
delighted with the program.
As Sieger has observed, “We are experiencing an increase in our
bookings with pets since we started promoting to this segment of the
market. In addition, many regular guests who traditionally have left
their pet at home are deciding to bring their companion along. When
you are on the road for weeks at a time, having a companion along
makes the hotel truly a home away from home.”
